Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Middlesbrough (Linthorpe) Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.

MEETING POINT is at the Hebrew Prayer House, Ayresome Green Lane, Linthorpe, TS5 5DW.

Linthorpe Cemetery has over 220 war dead from both world wars, a large number from WW1 were not local and died in nearby hospitals from wounds.There are personnel from all three services and the Mercantile Marine including a number of Canadians and one Jewish Serviceman from the First World War and two from the Second World War.

There are many family memorials recording war dead buried elsewhere, and a family gravestone mentioning a local sailor who went down on H.M.S. Hampshire with Lord Kitchener.

The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 500 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.

Parking is available on site. There are on-site facilities and toilets. Please bring water if required.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
