MEETING POINT is by the chapel in the centre of the cemetery.
During the tour we will discover more about the role of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in preserving the memory of fallen servicemen and women. Learn more about the individual stories of the casualties and how they came to be buried and remembered here, the oldest casualty being 62 and the youngest 18.
There are 4 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war and 36 from the 1939-45 war, 3 being unidentified seamen of the Merchant Navy. There are also 2 Polish war burials here.
The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 1300 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.
Parking is available on site. There are no facilities or toilets on site, but toilets are available at the nearby shopping centre. Please bring water if required.
Please come dressed for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
