In this paper, Matthew will explore the concept of "Transformational Leadership" which has emerged from dialogues with traditional and organic intellectuals over the last 15 years.

Sharing stories from the field to consider some key characteristics of the concept, setting out links with Gramscian thought to consider how Transformational Leadership might be a source of hope for us today.

Dr Matthew Barber-Rowell is an independent scholar based in the north west of England. Matthew has a varied portfolio of work relating to crises, leadership and values shaping the public square in the 21st Century. Matthew's forthcoming book, Curating Spaces of Hope: Transformational Leadership for Uncertain Times is also out in February 2025.
