About this Event
Welcome to Curating History for Home Eds. This weeks sessions are all about the Victorian pacifist and human rights campaigner Emily Hobhouse.
What you'll learn:
Who was Emily Hobshouse and where she was born
What Emily did
How Emily set the groundworks for human rights
After seeing a short presentation on Emily we've got a fantastic Victorian craft for the students to have a go at; Victorian Puzzle letters, also called puzzle purses.
You'll also get a word search and a fact file from the session to take home with you.
We will have a break during the session where you can go explore the museum, use the facilities and we also provide squash and biscuits.
Session Extra:
For anyone age 11-16 who would like to attend regularly we are offering FREE museum object handling training run by our manager, Iga. This training is that is completed by volunteers and work experience students to allow them to handle objects within our museum and we are offering to allow the older children to get more hands on with more artificats other than what is in handling boxes when they are available. This training will last no more than 20 minutes.
Who's running this weeks session?
This weeks session is being run by Lizzie our earning volunteer and Hollie our digitisation volunteer (who happens to know a fair amount about Emily!) and Iga who will run object handling training.
