How Might We Use the Tools of Cutural Studies? (Session 1 of 3)

In this first class, we look at the history of cultural studies, paying attention to specific historical moments and movements. We will make reference to key artefacts from music, literature and visual arts. And then we will look at our present moment, and discuss the growing importance of the creative industries, posthumanist trends and advanced technology. By the end of this class, participants will be equipped with foundational tools for thinking about the relationship between culture, power and protest.
