Discover Spanish children's literature, one story at a time...
About this Event

Instituto Cervantes in Manchester continues its storytelling series promoting children's reading. This time we will be reading: “My First Platero”, a children’s adaptation of 'Platero y yo' by the poet Juan Ramón Jiménez. A classic of Spanish literature full of tenderness and poetry, it explores the relationship between humans and animals. The adaptation is by Concha López Narváez.

Summary: Platero was not a donkey like the others. He was small, grey, and soft, and his eyes shone like black crystals. With his friend Juan Ramón, he went for walks in the countryside, lay in the grass, helped anyone who needed it, and played with the children of the village. Can a little donkey be a poet’s inseparable friend?
