About this Event

CREEPING BENT : A LEAP INTO THE VOID: An in conversation with Douglas MacIntyre and Ryan Walker, celebrating 30 yrs of this iconic label.

A Leap Into The Void is the ballad of the Creeping Bent Organisation, a label established in Glasgow in 1994 specialising in music, art, design, performance. Creeping Bent founder and conceptualist Douglas MacIntyre tells the story from his perspective, highlighting the trials and tribulations of successfully operating an independent business over a 30 year period.

MacIntyre has operated the Creeping Bent Organisation as an outlet for his interests, which has involved working with artists such as Adventures in Stereo; Alan Vega/Revolutionary Corps of Teenage Jesus; Bill Wells & Isobel Campbell; Fire Engines; Future Pilot AKA; Gareth Sager; Monica Queen; The Leopards; The Nectarine No.9; The Secret Goldfish; The Sexual Objects; Vic Godard; among many others.

2025 marks 30 years since the first release on the label, and with this in mind he has decided to draw a halt to proceedings after the release of the 100th Creeping Bent product, appositely entitled BENT 100.

Copies of Douglas' books will be on sale at the Festival and a dedicated book signing will take place immediately after the event.

About the Author:

Douglas MacIntyre released his first record aged 18 as a member of Lanarkshire post-punk group Article 58, who disbanded after a short tour with Josef K. Douglas MacIntyre has previously written (in conjunction with Neil Cooper and Grant McPhee) about the Scottish post-punk independent period. Hungry Beat, published in 2022 by White Rabbit, received critical acclaim and involved appearances by MacIntyre in the Edinburgh Book Festival, Aye Write Book Festival (Glasgow), The Social / Walthamstow Book Club (London) and the Louder Than Words music literature festival (Manchester).

Douglas MacIntyre releases his own music under the name Port Sulphur.
