About this Event
Ashé Cultural Arts Center and Artists At Work invite you to an evening celebrating the incredible work of New Orleans-based AAW Artists!
Over the past year, four New Orleans-based artists have been employed by the Artists At Work (AAW) program to apply their creative skills and artistic vision to address cross-sector challenges and advance health equity. Cherice Harrison-Nelson and Greer Mendy have focused on cultural preservation with the Alliance for Cultural Equity, while Donney Rose and A.J. Haynes have trained as Community Health Workers through the I Deserve It program, with Rose addressing neighborhood and built environment as social determinants of health and Haynes focusing on Black maternal health and reproductive rights.
The evening will begin with a moderated roundtable discussion between the AAW Artist centered on the role of artists in advancing health equity and strengthening community well-being.
Following this, there will be performances by each artist, along with a reflection on their role in strengthening community connections, preserving culture, and advancing public health through their creative practice.
