About this Event

Creative writing for the Arandora Star

Join us in person for an inspiring workshop about creative writing focused on the Arandora Star, led by academics at Liverpool Hope University.

This workshop aims at generating innovative storytelling around the Arandora Star sinking, a lesser-known event of the Second World War.

Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting, this event is your chance to dive into storytelling, share ideas, and bring history to life with your words. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get creative and connect with fellow writing enthusiasts.

By the end of this workshop, we wish attendees to be inspired to get engaged in creative writing (poetry, short stories, novels, memoirs, etc.) about the Arandora Star tragedy.

This workshop might be of interest to experienced or emergent creative writers, or those with an interest in creative writing that wish to learn basic techniques. We welcome attendees with an interest in maritime, war or local history. Similarly, we would encourage the participation of those with a lived experience of the Arandora Star sinking, as descendants of the victims or survivors.
