Our Creative Poetry Workshop is the perfect opportunity to unleash your inner poet and connect with fellow poetry enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, this workshop is designed for all levels. Get ready to explore different forms of poetry, experiment with words, and let your imagination soar. Don't miss this chance to hone your craft in a beautiful setting surrounded by like-minded individuals.
Participants will have the chance to explore two to three experimental poetry forms. They will hear the history behind them, see examples and then be guided through using them. Participants will have the opportunity of reading/performing their pieces. It is an interactive, fun workshop designed to release inner creativity, push poetic boundaries and excite activity.
Examples of experimental forms could be concrete poems/visual poems, poetry boards (poetry version of story board), poetry rap/spoken word or Ovillejo poem.
Sheila Ryder and Clare Hatfield will lead this exciting workshop. Sheila is an award-winning spoken word artist and published poet. She performs her poetry around Dublin and Ireland and has been published in poetry journals and online. She was a winner at the Cúirt International Festival in Galway in 2018, All-Ireland Poetry Slam finalist in 2019 and is regular featured poet at the Fingal Poetry Festival and on The Word Stage at Electric Picnic. She also runs poetry events for UNESCO Dublin City of Literature and Fingal Poetry Festival.
Clare Hatfield is an emerging poet and runs her own business as a service design consultant.
