Creative Evening with Serhiy Fomenko and Screening of "People of Steel"

As part of the international tour "Culture VS War", this special event marks the anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine. Join us for an inspiring evening with Ukrainian filmmaker, musician, and frontman of the band "Mandry", Serhiy Fomenko, also known as a People’s Artist of Ukraine.

Programme Highlights:

Screening of the documentary "People of Steel" (languages: English and Ukrainian with subtitles; runtime: 67 minutes). This film presents truthful stories from the defenders of Mariupol and their families about the heroic defence of the city and their fight to free their loved ones from captivity.

Live acoustic performance by Serhiy Fomenko and an interactive Q&A session.

Art and photography exhibition, featuring:

Matviy Vaisberg’s graphic series "Chronicles of War",Documentary war photography by Serhiy Mykhalchuk.

About the Film:

"People of Steel" tells the powerful and truthful stories of Mariupol’s defenders and their families, focusing on the events of February to May 2022 during the siege of Mariupol. It also highlights the ongoing efforts of families fighting for the release of their loved ones from captivity. This film serves as a reminder that the war continues, with Ukrainian soldiers – the People of Steel – defending not only Ukraine but also European and global security.

23 лютого 2025 року у Бірмінгемі в рамках міжнародного туру "Культура VS Війна"відбудеться особлива подія до річниці повномасштабної війни в Україні. Ви матимете можливість зустрітися з режисером, музикантом, фронтменом гурту "Мандри" та Народним артистом України Сергієм Фоменком.

На вас чекають: Показ документального фільму "People of Steel"(мови: англійська та українська, із субтитрами; тривалість – 67 хв), у якому захисники Маріуполя та їхні рідні розповідають правдиві історії про оборону міста та боротьбу за звільнення з полону.

Про фільм:
Документальний фільм "People of Steel" розповідає правдиві історії захисників Маріуполя та їхніх родин про події лютого–травня 2022 року під час битви за Маріуполь. У фільмі також йдеться про боротьбу родин за звільнення захисників з полону. Ця стрічка нагадує, що війна триває і зараз. На захисті України, європейської та світової безпеки стоять українські воїни – Люди зі Сталі.
