About this Event
This session offers HAF providers space to build clearer awareness and understanding of SEND and SEMH needs within out-of-school and community provision. The focus is on what inclusive, accessible practice can look like in real‑world activity settings, and how providers can reflect on their own environments, routines and approaches.
The session explores how children’s needs may present in out‑of‑school contexts and introduces practical, strengths‑based ideas that providers can take back and develop in ways that fit their own teams and delivery models. The aim is not to prescribe a single way of working, but to support providers in thinking about what inclusion means for their organisation and the children and families they serve.
The interactive sessions will cover:
- Key messages from the SEND reforms and what they mean for HAF providers.
- Understanding and recognising SEND and SEMH needs.
- Creating emotionally safe, inclusive environments.
- Practical strategies for communication, behaviour, sensory needs, and co‑regulation.
- Working effectively with families, schools and partner organisations.
- Real‑world scenarios tailored to out-of-school and community provision.
This session is suitable for managers, activity leaders, support staff and volunteers. Each organisation may book up to 2 delegates initially to ensure fair access.
