Creating and Welcoming Inclusion in Services
In this session, participants will learn some basic approaches to ensuring that all programs and services are accessible to people with a range of disabilities, understand the philosophy of the dignity of risk, and gain greater understanding of how ableism and tokenism can impact services.
In this training, participants will:
- Understand accommodations and how to create welcoming environments for people with disabilities.
- Learn about the Independent Living Philosophy and the principles that can improve your organizations.
- Understand how ableism has impacted structures and services for people with disabilities.

About the Presenter:
Jeremy Morris is the Executive Director at Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council. Before joining the SILC in 2017, Jeremy spent almost 10 years working in Independent Living, previously serving as the Executive Director of the Access Center in Dayton, Ohio and Finance Coordinator at the Western Reserve ILC in Warren, Ohio. His background in Centers for Independent Living includes direct services, advocacy and community partnerships, and operations management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
