About this Event
Effectively telling your organization’s story is essential to fundraising, audience
engagement, and even employee satisfaction. Does your board struggle to
communicate all your organization does? Do your staff members inconsistently
describe the organization’s purpose? When you tell your organization’s story, are
your beneficiaries’ voices always included?
In this interactive, workshop-style three-part series, participants will reflect on their own
stories, their organization’s stories, and the connections between the work they
do and the people and issues they represent. We will dig into the Why, Who, and
Now What of your organization’s story with the goal of crafting a simple,
authentic, and compelling narrative that every board, staff, and target audience
member can engage with and appreciate.
Week 1: Your Organization’s Why - January 16, 2025
This is where any organization must start when crafting a compelling narrative.
We’ll dig into how to identify your organization’s unique Why. (Spoiler: it’s not
your mission statement.)
Week 2: The Essential Who - January 23, 2025
This is the magical missing piece many organizations overlook when telling their
story, yet it is most likely the reason the organization exists. We’ll dig into the
experiences, expertise, and aspirations of the most important people (or
creatures or land) related to your organization.
Week 3: Now What - February 6, 2025
By now, you’ve identified your organization’s essential narrative. How do you tell
that story? Who do you tell it to? Where and how do you share it? During our final
session, we’ll cover the basics of content strategy, ideation, creation, and
promotion.
