About this Event
Want to transform moments into powerful visual stories?
This workshop is for high school students to have a taste of what studying at a creative higher education level is like, building on the photography and media skills you’ve explored at school. You’ll dive into the world of visual storytelling, learning how photographers and filmmakers use light, space and time to create powerful stories that go beyond words.
Through hands-on activities like storyboarding, photography and moving image, you’ll start to experiment with the techniques that shape creative industries. It’s your chance to experience life as a visual storyteller, get inspired, and see where your creativity could take you after school.
During this workshop you will also gain EXCLUSIVE first access to LCI Melbourne's EMERGE exhibition, that isn't open to the public until the following week, featuring work created by your workshop mentor, Dean Golja.
This workshop is suitable for Year 10–12 students. No equipment required, LCI Melbourne will supply all materials.
Meet Your Mentor
Dean Golja is a Melbourne-based photographer & video artist whose work has featured in many of Australia’s most prestigious photography awards, including the Bowness & Josephine Ulrike. He has a Master of Electronic Arts degree from the Australian National University and is currently a PhD candidate at Deakin University. He is a Lecturer of Moving Image, Photography, Visual Arts and Contextual Studies at LCI Melbourne.
