Make your own curiosity! Supplies, butterfly, and frame provided!
$35 per person, all ages welcome
You'll learn the art of preserving and presenting natural specimens in a way that celebrates their intricate beauty and fleeting existence. You'll have the opportunity to create one of two projects: a butterfly shadow box, where you'll mount a delicate butterfly specimen in a beautifully crafted box surrounded by flowers, leaves, or other natural elements; or a terrarium, where you'll create a mesmerizing miniature world within a glass cloche jar, featuring butterflies, beetles, and/or skulls adorned with crystals, moss, and flowers. New this month, we have added a scorpions, dragon flies, beetles, open-wing cicadas, and more!
Through this class, you'll explore the symbolic connection between life, death, and transformation, and develop an appreciation for the beauty and fragility of natural specimens. You'll learn new skills and techniques for preserving and presenting delicate specimens, and create a unique and thought-provoking piece of art that reflects your personal connection to the natural world. This class is open to all skill levels, and no prior experience is necessary. The materials fee starts at $35 and will cover the cost of specimens, materials, and supplies.
