UK Jazz Dance (and it's relation, House Dance) seems to be having a real moment right now among a new generation - the idea of this party is to be one of the spaces in Bristol for a coming together of a new generation of club-style dancers (jazz, Jazz fusion, House) with some of the old school UK Jazz dancers, for some intergenerational dance inspiration & hopefully to spread the word out to those new to it - and of course to have a night full of fantastic music for moving.
Everyone is welcome, whether you've been dancing for decades or have no clue what any of this is about but are interested to find out :))
OSCAR
A dancer to his core, when Local Bristol legend Oscar formed street Jazz Dance group THE FLOORTECHNICIANS in 1988 he was already a 3 times Disco dance champion. After making a huge impact in the Jazz dance club scene in the UK, in 1991 the group became jazz dance champions and went on to feature on primetime TV and tour extensively around Britain and abroad. Oscar has previously taught workshops at schools and colleges on top of regular Classes at the Bristol dance centre, and is coming back to do a one off workshop for the public.
With the recent resurgence of interest in Jazz dance, it felt only right to ask Oscar to share his deep, foundational knowledge of street jazz styles and techniques: DO NOT MISS!
