About this Event
We will be coppicing hazel in Wick Woodland to improve habiat for wildlife and cut stakes for use in other wildlife conservation in Hackney.
Coppicing is a traditional woodland management technique. It is very sustainable because cut trees grow back. Cutting allows light into the woods for wild flowers and bulbs. It creates valuable decaying wood habitat and cut poles will be used later in the year to build other habitat on nearby Hackney Marshes.
Led by experienced tree expert and ecologist Russell Miller the whole day workshop will invlove use of saws and other cutting tools. Tools and training will be provided.
