Shut Up & Read
An Intimate Evening with Jeannine A. Cook
Eleanor’s – Norfolk
March 13, 2026 | 7PM
Complimentary Event | Limited Seating
Jeannine A. Cook is coming to Hampton Roads.
Author, cultural curator, and founder of Harriet’s Bookshop, Jeannine brings her newest release, Shut Up & Read, to Norfolk for an intimate evening of reading and real conversation.
This is not a lecture.
This is not a performance at you.
This is a return to attention.
Jeannine will read select portions from Shut Up & Read, followed by a layered, thoughtful dialogue with:
MarieAnn Fluker, Resident Artist at Contemporary Arts Network
Robert Jennings IV, JIV Enterprises LLC
Edmund Ndip - Asset Management
Sharon English - GLUE LLC
Together, they’ll explore what it means to step back from noise, reclaim focus, and treat reading as a practice of listening — to ourselves and to each other.
The evening will be sonically curated by Illien Rosewell, blending lo-fi boom-bap textures between conversations to create an atmosphere that feels intentional, reflective, and culturally grounded.
Expect:
Live readings
Honest dialogue
Community exchange
A warm, intimate setting
Space to think
This is a complimentary gathering, but seating is limited. Registration is required.
If you’ve been craving depth over distraction, this night is for you.
Reserve your seat and come be part of the conversation.
