About this Event
This 1 day workshop is designed for potters who would like a practical refresher on dip glazing. We'll focus on building confidence with dipping methods while reinforcing essential studio habits that lead to cleaner, more consistent results.
Participants will review glaze preparation and application, including how long to dip for even coverage, how to avoid common dipping mistakes, and how to troubleshoot surface issues. We will also cover the use of underglazes and demonstrate how to use an atomizer to create a variety of surface effects.
The workshop will also emphasize best studio practices, such as waxing the bottom, managing glaze thickness, and efficient cleanup before firing.
In addition, we'll explore a few simple dip glazing techniques that add visual interest without overcomplicating the process. Beginners welcome! Each participant should bring 3–5 bisqued pieces (firing not included).
