About this Event
Come celebrate the launch of Conversion Therapy Dropout: A Queer Story of Faith and Belonging, with Timothy Schaeder Rodriguez at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, the historic birthplace of the queer liberation movement.
Described by Publisher's Weekly as "an unflinching account of faith that counts," Conversion Therapy Dropout is gay Christian's behind-the-scenes account of evangelical megachurches and eight years in conversion therapy before finding wholeness and authenticity.
The evening will be emceed by Shauna Niequist, New York Times bestselling author of Present Over Perfect and I Guess I Haven’t Learned That Yet, who also authored the book’s foreword.
The evening will feature a short reading followed by an intimate conversation with artist, activist, alt-pop hitmaker, and advocate. MORGXN. His latest album, HEARTLAND, mirrors the same themes of resilience and returning to and reclaiming the places we call home found in the book.
Following their conversation, there will be time for Q&A (so come with your questions!) and a book signing.
McNally Jackson Booksellers will be onsite with copies of Conversion Therapy Dropout available for purchase. To guarantee a book for the signing, attendees can pre-pay $25 to reserve a copy in advance.
