About the Artist:
Pangea Kali Virga Pangea crafts experiential, dreamy, and fantastical worlds using fiber and community as her medium. Patchworked, embroidered, distressed, and woven, her work recontextualizes waste and beauty, inspiring play, curiosity, and action. Ornate and resilient, each stitch holds intention, every fiber meticulously collaged. Layered and maximalist, her textures beckon touch and closer examination in a rainbow of colors. Her work ranges from wall hangings, installations, sweeping 30ft gowns, and delicate palm-sized fiber collages—all created from upcycled materials. Rooted in nature, literature, and equity, her zero-waste practice challenges consumerist systems through workshops, lectures, and large-scale public art, fostering transparency and collective engagement.
