About the INTENSIVE
“Tuning Bodies”
I am deeply passionate about discovering ways to tune in and ground oneself in states of presence and heightened somatic receptivity as the foundation for decision-making while improvising in dance.
How might we listen, express, and collaborate creatively while improvising? How can we relate safely and participate, overcoming apprehensions and limiting expectations that may arise in improvisation, particularly in interactions with others?
Throughout our time together, we'll engage in individual, partner, and group improvisations to activate and articulate our attention, integrating our physical-sensorial awareness with movement skills and creative expression. We'll explore play and curiosity as wellsprings of expressiveness and composition, experimenting with sensory words, tactile images, and poetic elements emerging from our somatic dances.
Technical Themes:
Our practice will center on understanding weight and its organization in the body in motion, as a key element for achieving fluidity and confidence moving on the floor, seamlessly transitioning between levels, and inverted positions, and combining movements in contact with others. We'll explore technical tools for aerial suspensions, off-ground balancing, and playing with momentum and the trajectories of weight in motion.
We will aim to access the simultaneous presence of stability and mobility, definition, and availability in our movements, as we intertwine our bodies in motion, releasing, rising, and gliding within the breath of gravity.
