CONSCIOUS LAB - COMMUNITY EVENT - GLENFIELD LIBRARY
Date: Saturday 28 November, 11am-12pm
Supported by Kaipatiki Local Board and Kaipatiki Community Facilities Trust
The children and their whanau from the Conscious Lab course are coming to inspire the Kaipatiki community to show how they have special skills to share with the world, and how they can offer their actions in service towards this huge project - The Global Goals. Through interactive art performance, Kaipatiki whanau will be challenged to open up their outlook and to commit to becoming inspiring people in their communities.
Through this presentation, children and their whanau will empower their community with knowledge and understanding of how important is their participation in this global movement of raising awareness to inquire, understand, engage and communicate the importance of sustainability. During this past 10-week course, they developed confidence and strength to take action and make changes for themselves and others around the world.

WHAT ARE THE GLOBAL GOALS?
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals — also known as the SDGs or the Global Goals —came into effect on January 1, 2016, following a historic United Nations Summit in September 2015. 193 governments from around the world agreed to implement the Goals within their own countries in order to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Over the next fifteen years, with these new Goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
