Conquering CablesInstructor: Erika Lindgren
Are you a new knitter or someone returning to knitting after a long break and want to up or refresh your knitting skills? Are you a longtime knitter but you’ve been intimidated by cables? This class will have you cabling with confidence. You will learn several cable patterns (staghorn pictured above) as well as the rationale behind stitch sequencing. You will practice cabling with and without a cable needle. And you will learn to read cable patterns in both written and charted forms. By the end of the class you will have created a sampler swatch that you can refer to as you embrace the possibilities of cables.
Experience level: Advanced beginner. Must be able to cast on and off, knit and purl.
Class length and date: 1-3:30 pm on Sunday March 1
Cost: $25 (includes a cable needle)
Maximum enrollment: 12
Homework: Before class pick out a set of knitting needles or a circular needle and appropriate weight yarn. A thicker yarn like DK, Worsted, Aran, or Chunky is recommended so you can see the stitches better. Cast on 22 stitches using whichever cast on method you prefer. Start a 2x2 rib (k2, p2, repeat until end) until you have at least an inch in length. This will be the base of the swatch we use in class.
