The Kamra tal-Periti is organising a series of five public seminars dedicated to Modernist architecture in Malta. A significant yet under-recognised part of the island’s architectural heritage. While heritage discourse in Malta has traditionally focused on pre-war and vernacular architecture, Modernist buildings form a critical layer of our post-war built environment that remains underrepresented and increasingly vulnerable.
Organised by the Kamra’s Policy Committee on Heritage, this curated series will explore the architectural, social, and cultural value of Maltese Modernism through lectures, case studies, and discussions.
Themes include:
What Makes Maltese Modernism?
Conservation of Reinforced Concrete
Challenges in Protecting Modernist Architecture
The seminars are open to architects, designers, heritage practitioners, and students anyone interested in Malta’s architectural and cultural history.
Held every two weeks, starting Wednesday 11 March 2026.
Supported by:
Visit Malta, General Maintenance Ltd, Philip A Tabone, The Farsons Foundation and the National Building Council
