Beacon, NY — Composers Concordance joins forces with Howland Cultural Center to present
CompCord at Howland, an exciting evening where adventurous musicians from New York City and Beacon come together to create a vibrant cross-Hudson artistic exchange. Blending jazz, contemporary classical, improvisation, poetry, and groove-driven experimentation, the concert highlights the creative energy that emerges when two thriving musical communities meet.
Set in the historic and intimate atmosphere of the Howland Cultural Center, the program will feature works by composers Dan Cooper, Brad Hubbard, Debra Kaye, Gwen Laster, Gene Pritsker, Judi Silvano, and Bill Ware. The concert reflects the eclectic spirit of Composers Concordance, known for dissolving stylistic boundaries and fostering collaboration among artists from diverse backgrounds.
The evening’s ensemble brings together an exceptional lineup of performers from both NYC and the Hudson Valley:
Gwen Laster — violin
Franz Hackl — trumpet
Brad Hubbard — baritone sax
Charlie Hall — bass trombone
Bill Ware — vibraphone
Gene Pritsker — guitar and conductor
Lee Jeffryes — percussion
Roger Aplon — poet / recitation
Twinkle Burke - recitation
More than just a concert, CompCord at Howland celebrates artistic community and cultural connection. Musicians rooted in the fast-paced experimental scene of New York City meet Beacon’s flourishing creative landscape, creating a dialogue that is spontaneous, adventurous, and deeply collaborative.
Audiences can expect an evening filled with rich textures, driving rhythms, poetic interludes, improvisational surprises, and genre-defying compositions that move seamlessly between jazz, chamber music, world music influences, and avant-garde expression.
CompCord at Howland continues Composers Concordance’s mission of presenting innovative programming that unites artists and audiences through fearless musical exploration.
The concert will also be live-streamed on Composers Concordance's Facebook Page.
