Organizer info:
We are Zara and Eiman, two friends who first met at a Queer Eid celebration at Zara’s home, where we bonded over a delicious Lions Mane nihari. Our connection deepened through food-centered social gatherings, where our identities and our commitment to collective liberation found a supportive space.
Now we want to work together to build access to more spaces and food as community care, as we have personally experienced. Our shared values of care work, community interinvestment, and the vision of a world where this work is celebrated and generously funded have united us in this mission.
This is the first event of a series of grant-funded gatherings, centering food as resistance and community care.
In addition to the events, we plan to gather and publish research related to food as care, and we give thanks to registrants in advance for filling out our pre-program survey at registration.
Accessibility, COVID:
The event will be held indoors (location details will be shared after registration). We kindly ask all attendees to take a COVID test before attending and ensure a negative result.
There will be 2 semi-private areas for prayer (as needed).
There are 2 on-site accessible bathrooms and we ask that all attendees be mindful of scent-sensitivities (no perfume, low-fragrance).
