About this Event
Community Gardening Photovoice Exhibit Launch & Panel Discussion
Join us at Visual Arts Mississauga at Riverwood on April 24, 2026 at 3:30 PM for the launch of our Community Gardening Photovoice Exhibit. This exhibit showcases the stories and photographs of participants in a 26-week community gardening program in Mississauga that combined hands-on gardening with education on nutrition and Type 2 Diabetes prevention. The exhibit launch will feature a panel discussion with experts in the fields of gardening, health, and nutrition.
This exhibit is part of the Evaluating Community Gardens as Environmental Health Interventions in Mississauga project which aims to assess how community gardening can improve health outcomes in Mississauga’s priority communities. The overarching aim of our project is to evaluate the effectiveness of a community gardening program on reducing risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes in Mississauga.
This project is co-led by Ecosource and researchers in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and is made possible with the generous support of the Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations Catalyst Grant Fund.
The exhibit will remain on display for the weekend of April 25-26 during regular gallery hours (10 AM -4 PM).
