Let's come together to chat about housing and solutions for homelessness in our community and how to fund more supportive housing
About this Event

We regret to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Dr. Boozary is unable to speak at this event on November 13th. Given the short timeframe before the event, the planning team decided to postpone the event.

We will email the registrants with details regarding next steps. We deeply appreciate your understanding.

For those who are interested, the Housing Affordability Working Group of Centretown Community Association (CCA) is planning a panel with Councillor Marty Carr and other speakers on the affordable housing on November 24 from 6:30-8pm. If you have any questions, please reach out to CCA via [email protected].

Note: This Community Conversation on Homelessness in Ottawa is postphoned. The intention for the 2nd session is to focus on the “How”, especially funding to get more supportive housing built. All 3 elected officials have agreed to be on the panel at the event in 2026, subject to scheduling. The February 11, 2026 date is a placeholder.
Thank you to everyone who registered for this important community conversation on homelessness for November 13th in Ottawa. We had 179 registrations for tickets in a little over 2 weeks and well on our way to the target of 300-400 attendees for the event. The eventbrite had over 1,250 views so there was a lot of interest.

A lot of work went into this since June and we were looking forward to hearing from Dr. Boozary. We were also interested in figuring out a way where we can leverage the data they collected from University Health Network’s ER and hospital to get more supportive housing funded in Ottawa. Supportive Housing costs money but it can save more money in other parts of the system.

We regret to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Dr. Boozary will be unable to join us for the November 13th event. Given the short timeframe before the event, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the session.

As a next step, our planning committee will regroup and plan next steps in advancing collaborative solutions to homelessness in our community. A potential timeframe for the rescheduling of a new event is January or February 2026 but we have to coordinate a lot of busy schedules with our 3 elected officials, invited speaker(s) and venue..

We deeply appreciate your understanding, interest, and continued support for this vital work. We will be in touch with more information.

Centretown Community Association (CCA) is planning a panel for their November 24 Housing Affordability Working Group Meeting at 6:30-8 pm to keep the momentum going.
Councillor Marty Carr has agreed to be on the panel and invitations sent to 2 other potential speakers so hopefully more information would be available over the next few days. A new Eventbrite event would be created for it so if you would be interested in this and additional events, follow Centretown Community Association in Eventbrite.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to CCA via [email protected].
