Celebrate the Year of the Horse by creating ceramic stamps and Monkey Shine medallions while exploring 11 different tile making techniques. This hands-on all ages class meets every Saturday at noon for one hour (excluding cleanup) beginning January 24.
In-person class dates:
January 24 & 31
February 7, 14, & 21
Techniques we’ll explore include:
• Relief carving
• Incising & sgraffito
• Stamping & texturing
• Sprigging / appliqué
• Inlay (clay or slip in recessed areas)
• Slip trailing
• Mishima
• Slip painting
• Terra sigillata application
• Burnishing
• Resist techniques (wax, paper, latex)
Be prepared to create 50+ pieces of ceramic art to hide throughout Tacoma as part of the Monkeyshines tradition. The February 21 class will meet in the Lincoln District, where we’ll hide our treasures together. Keeping Master molds and trades amongst participants are encouraged �
Registration begins Today! $50 suggested donation holds your spot and covers materials in the class, everything is included.
The Lunar New Year Festival in Lincoln district will take place on February 22.
