A sensory kaleidoscope of music, art, and poetry, to celebrate the life of David Bothwell, and in aid of Jersey Hospice. Every living being on planet earth is welcomed to this arts festival, and greeted with open arms.
Most of us have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer and therefore, you all understand how vital Hospice are as a charity for those affected by terminal illness. Let’s make some monies for them to help keep them providing their vital care.
A seriously stacked line up:
Katja Martin - sweet soft folk, with love. Katja blew people away with her angelic voice and well played banjo at Bergefest last year and will no doubt leave you smiling during her set.
The Sound-to-Colour - a raga style jam with no aim in view, only an agreed starting point. This will be a pursuit of visual to sound.
The Engine - established blues players well regarded and versed in their instruments. Traditional raw blues at its absolute best with special guests.
Perchards Wall - Greg and Joe make up half of The Wall and are two of Dave’s musical prodigies and both very close to Dave and learnt a lot musically from him, so only makes sense to see them on the bill. Ultimate jams and psychedelic big riffs. Be cute to play some belters as always.
Its own Animal (Guernsey) - Gary Minto will be bringing not just his creative genius but also his ‘animal’ over to Jersey to bend some brains. Its own Animal is an experience of musical beauty and privilege.
Mother Earth Blues Band - Blues from Mother Earth, where all of you came from, where you will all go back to - some of jersey’s finest players coming together to let it all out for a one off performance.
Pirates - no introduction needed, one jerseys most established live acts, great players, absolutely love these guys and this performance will no doubt be a literal party of sounds.
Mandala - instrumental progressive rock made up of top quality musicians and members of several other Jersey bands. These guys rip and play extended tight passages of well written music.
Brodie - Armchair boogie time with nice notes. Enjoy a peach, close your eyes, breathe in the St Helier air.
Hammermaid - the sound of 1 thousand wasps. I have never experienced these guys and not walked away feeling like I’ve just witnessed a moment of genius. Their musicianship is outstanding and an unbelievably big sound for a 2 piece.
Beyond the live music will be poetry and art.
A live liquid light show will be performed throughout the event by Hugh Blaine, using an old 90s overhead projector, oils and dyes to emulate a mind bending psychedelic show for the performances.
Gary Minto will be kicking off the event with a poem about life and death. The first time I heard Gary’s poetry at Vale Earth festival I was in awe. Mind bending vocabulary, words of wisdom and beauty.
Pilgrimage with Jacques Le Breton - Jacques is humble and so quietly clever with his art. With a unique style of swirls and psychedelia, Jacques will be delighting us with a live painting during the event - I won’t spoil the surprise however, it’s going to be a real trip.
All of these people listed above, coming together to perform and create, to help raise money for a wonderful cause and to celebrate music and arts with each other - it’s a real special thing.
Come drink some pints, have a laugh and experience life, as living is colourful and bright - and I want you to celebrate.
More granular details to follow closer to the time.
