Colm Tóibín THE NEWS FROM DUBLIN
We are beyond thrilled to host (again!) conversation with the incomparable (WBEZ) about his new book, , eleven stories that “transport readers across continents and eras.” After giving us the widely acclaimed novel , and, most recently , Tóibín brings us this magnificent set of stories, his first short story collection in 14 years. Join us for an evening full of literature, laughter, and more, in the Neo-Gothic sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Evanston. Tóibín will sign books following the event. is the author of eleven novels, including an Oprah’s Book Club Pick; , winner of the Rathbones Folio Prize; , winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize; , winner of the Costa Book Award; ; and ; as well as two story collections and several books of criticism. He is the Irene and Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University and has been named as the Laureate for Irish Fiction for 2022–2024 by the Arts Council of Ireland. Three times shortlisted for the Booker Prize, Tóibín lives in Dublin and New York.
is the co-host of "Say More with Mary Dixon and Patrick Smith" on 91.5 WBEZ. Before that, she woke up early with Chicagoans as the host of Morning Edition on WBEZ from 2020 to 2025, and for roughly 25 years before that as the news anchor and co-host of the morning show on 93XRT. She and her family are longtime residents of Evanston.

Getting here: First United Methodist Church is in downtown Evanston, a few blocks east of the Davis Street Metra, CTA, and PACE public transit stops. There is some free parking and metered street parking as well as numerous parking garages nearby.
