November 12 at 7pm - it's time for Cold Reads/Cold Brews! This month we're reading "The Courage to Right a Woman's Wrongs" by Ana Caro Mallén de Soto. This Spanish Golden Age play is filled with cross-dressing, love triangles, swordplay, and soaring verse.
And, it is a celebration of women’s agency. Doña Leonora dresses like a man and crosses Europe to get revenge on her ungrateful ex and ends up with a triumph that she deems better than any murder. She may be determined to live in a revenge tragedy, but the result is a hilarious comedy!
This play was translated by UCLA's Diversifying the Classics project
What is Cold Reads/Cold Brews?
It's a monthly gathering of people interested in reading plays while quaffing a beverage of choice at a local public house. It is also a way that Latitude Theatre brings our programming out into the public of Seattle. And it's FREE!
Read and/or watch. Roles will be filled by those in attendance.
Come join us on Wednesday November12 at 7pm in the Annex of St. Andrews Pub (7406 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA) as we gather, we read plays, we talk about plays, we sip a beer (or other tasty drink), we have some laughs, we have some fries, and in the end, we have fun together, while experiencing life through the words of playwrights from all over the world.
