The Hannibal Arts Council is proud to announce the May edition of its popular Coffee Talk Conversation Series. The program will feature a presentation from HAC featured artist Dennis Babbitt of Louisiana. The program is FREE and open to the public. Wade Stables P.C. is the Signature Sponsor of the series.
Dennis Babbitt has an exquisite skill of capturing the beauty of natural landscapes through oil, pastel, and watercolor. On any given weekend he can be found outdoors, with his paints and a canvas in hand, capturing the magnificent scenes around him. As an artist, he finds inspiration in the impressionist movements of Hudson River School and Pennsylvania Impressionists and specific artists such as Skip Whitcomb, Sam Hyde Harris, Percy Grey and others. Babbitt primarily paints the landscape. His decision to pursue the landscape goes back many years ago to the desire to see the beauty and calm that surrounds each of us. Babbitt received his BFA in Printmaking from Missouri State University in 1975. His landscape works are featured as part of the May 29-June 27 exhibits at the Hannibal Arts Council, and he is also a member of the Alliance Art Gallery in Downtown Hannibal.
Through the Coffee Talk Conversation Series, the Hannibal Arts Council presents community members speaking on various topics - relaxed, informal and informative.
