Cocteaufest is an annual gathering of Cocteau Twins fans from all over the world to gather, meet, talk, and dance. CocteauFest has been in existence since 2003, so come to our 23rd gathering in San Francisco this year hosted by Dancing Ghosts, San Francisco's Darkwave Dance Party! We are thrilled to welcome two Cocteau Twins cover bands: Sugar Hiccup (Seattle) and Mocteau Twins (San Diego).
Sugar Hiccup is a tribute band dedicated to capturing the haunting, dreamlike sound of the Cocteau Twins. Named after one of the band’s most iconic songs, Sugar Hiccup brings the magic of the Cocteau Twins’ ethereal music to life. With stunning vocals, shimmering guitars, and atmospheric bass lines, Based in Seattle, WA, Sugar Hiccup recreates the timeless beauty and otherworldly sounds that made the Cocteau Twins one of the most influential acts in dream pop history.
Let Sugar Hiccup transport you into the mesmerizing world of the Cocteau Twins featuring Aileen Paron (Lead Vocals), Markus Von Prause (Guitars, & Audio Production), Kimo Muraki (Bass Guitar, Vocals) Robert Sydow (Keyboards & Audio Engineering), Shane Peck (Live Drums) and Gardenia Theroux Blazinspace (Visuals).
Mocteau Twins is an all-women tribute to the iconic dream pop pioneers Cocteau Twins. Featuring an ensemble of celebrated local musicians—Charlotte Miller (vocals), Jackie Mendoza (saxophone, synth, electric ukulele), Cara Potiker (bass), and Laura Gonzales (guitar)—the group channels the ethereal textures and surrealist soundscapes of the original band while adding their own shimmering edge.
At the heart of the project is Charlotte’s voice, which bears an uncanny resemblance to Elizabeth Fraser’s haunting vocal style—otherworldly, emotive, and at times indistinguishable from the source. With layered instrumentation that blends saxophone and synth with reverb-drenched guitar and melodic basslines, MocteauTwins delivers a reverent yet fresh homage to one of the most influential bands in alternative music.
