The Coastal Martial Arts Open is back again on Saturday June 6, 2026 in beautiful Port Alberni BC.Since 2004, the CMA Open has been Vancouver Island’s premiere sport martial arts event. Providing an expertly organized, efficiently run, fair and safe tournament. Offering forms, weapons and point sparring divisions for all ages and belt ranks. With few if any open sport martial arts events currently approved to run in the province of BC, this event will also provide a great opportunity for lower mainland competitors as well.
As many of you already know we recently lost Sensei Sukwinder Manhas. He was such a positive role model for the martial arts community that it seemed appropriate to honour him in some meaningful way. With that in mind we will be running the Coastal Martial Arts Open Tournament “Celebrating a Legacy” on Saturday June 6th here in Port Alberni.
What better way to show our appreciation for an amazing martial artist, instructor, community leader and friend than by doing the thing that he loved most.
Please join the family, friends, and students of Coastal Martial Arts to celebrate a life of honour and heart. Together, we will support local martial arts competition and the community he inspired.
