Countdown in Birmingham 2026: Warm-UpPresented by MSR

In addition to these two tournaments, MSR will be running a Rather Hard Quiz event on the Sunday. This will NOT be a Countdown tournament, but it is being advertised with them.

📅 Date and approximate times
Friday, 31st July 2026
• Doors open: 18:30
• First round draw: 19:00*
• Round 1: 19:00–20:15 (1h 15m)
• Round 2: 20:15–21:30 (1h 15m)
• Grand final: 21:30–21:50 (20m)
• Prizegiving: 21:50–22:00 (10m)
*Please arrive by 18:50. If you are late, you will be "pruned" for each game that has already started at the time of your arrival. If the other two players on your table are present, they will play their game first to give you time to arrive without missing out on any gameplay.

📝 Overview
The event will be carried out in the "Lincoln" style. This comprises tables of three, at which there are two players and one host. You will rotate with those on your table, hosting one game and playing two in each round. You can find out in detail how all of this works through this link: shorturl.at/tZ4dP
You'll be playing four 9-rounders, thereby hosting two, across two rounds. There will be a random draw ahead of the first round to determine the fixtures. For the following round, the "Birmingham" style of fixture-generation will be used, whereby you will be matched with players by number of wins then random choice, ignoring standings position.
Once both preliminary rounds have concluded and the scores have been gathered, the two contenders with the most wins and points will compete in the grand final to determine the event champion. In what is now the typical grand final setup for a "Lincoln"-style event, it will involve a board at the front of the room, which is elevated to give everyone involvement in the game and potentially better the players.

🧭 Getting to the venue
The venue is located a short walk from Birmingham's three innermost railway stations: Snow Hill (4 mins), New Street (6 mins), and Moor Street (11 mins). On the West Midlands Metro, the closest tram stop is Town Hall.
🅿️ Parking
For anyone planning on driving in, the venue does not have any parking facilities. However, there are several multi-storeys dotted around the city centre.

🎟️ Admission
If you sign up before 30th May, the admission fees are as follows:
💰£5 for the warm-up event (Fri) only
💰£10 for the main event (Sat) only
💰£10 for the Rather Hard Quiz event (Sun) only
💰£25 for all three events
From 1st June, the admission fees will be as follows:
💰 £6 for the warm-up event (Fri) only
💰 £12 for the main event (Sat) only
💰 £12 for the Rather Hard Quiz event (Sun) only
💰 £30 for all three events
Whichever option you choose, it can be paid directly to MSR's PayPal account. You can find the link via the "Tickets" button at the top of the page.
