How to Train Your Game Cluster: Insights from the GAME-ER Project
S0.12 (Strand Building) | Wed 5th November 4-6pm
Much European digital game production happens in the major metropoles, which facilitate access to critical resources. However, there are smaller cities and regions which have hugely successful clusters of game production. What are the conditions under which such clusters arise, and how can other regions foster their own vibrant game creation scenes? Presenting new findings from the Horizon Europe-funded GAME-ER (Game Clusters Across Multiple European Regions) project, this talk will explore the history of Dundee, Lyon, Bordeaux, Turin, Brno and Fundao as cities that host creative and active game development clusters. What are the secrets to success, and how best to replicate them elsewhere?
