Through games, physical exercises, and performance experiments, we’ll explore timing, vulnerability, and the strange logic of clown. Participants will begin to identify their own rhythms, instincts, and points of connection with an audience.
Open to anyone curious about clown or looking to reconnect with spontaneity, risk, and joy in performance.
Bio: Corey Podell is an actor, director, and teaching artist. She's best known for her work in alternative comedy and clown, having directed the critically acclaimed stage shows 'Vanessa 5000', 'Mr. Chonkers', 'The Underground Monk Show', 'Gutterplum', 'Queen of Fishtown' and most recently, 'Goblin'. Corey is an alumni of the Groundlings Sunday Company and is a founding member of the LA based clown ensemble, 'Clown Zoo'. As an actor, Corey can be seen in The Comeback, Transparent, Two Broke Girls, The Joe Shmo Show Reboot, and a bunch of indies that no one sees, but everyone appreciates. As a teaching artist, Corey has brought her workshop offerings 'Clown Curious', 'Entrances + Exits', 'Build+Break', and 'Holding the Room' throughout the United States, and is beyond thrilled to be back in the OC!
