Clothing Swap- April

Have you ever wanted to donate your clothing to STITCH AND DESTROY? Now you can at our monthly Clothing Swaps! Bring your unwanted clothing and textiles- wearable or not- and take home something new. Any clothing and textiles left over from the swap will be used to create our upcycled fashions. Our monthly Clothing Swaps will take place every last Saturday of the month unless otherwise stated.

Why a clothing swap? We want to keep as much textile waste out of the landfill as possible, but first we want this clothing to be worn by our community. While our upcycled garments are made only from textile waste (and we save every scrap), the most sustainable garment is what's already in your (or someone else’s) closet. Plus, we only have so much storage space 🙂

Bring a maximum of 20 garments or textiles to STITCH AND DESTROY at any time during the Clothing Swap hours (noon-5pm), and take home as many garments from the swap as you’d like! There will be clothing that is damaged/unwearable so if you upcycle too, this swap is also for you! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing and vice-versa. This is a FREE event. RSVP ticket not required. Any items brought to the swap and not taken during the event are considered donated to STITCH AND DESTROY. Check out our guidelines and accepted items list below~

ACCEPTED ITEMS

ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN. NO MOLD, DUST, BUGS, BLOOD, DIRT, FOOD, OR EXCESSIVE PET HAIR

• Clothing (Shirts, Pants, Skirts, Jackets, Coats, Dresses, Hats, Bandanas)
• Bedding ( Bed Sheets, Pillowcases, Quilts)
• Linens (Tablecloths, Cloth Napkins)
• Curtains

Accepted Items can be damaged, torn, have holes and stained- but they must be washed! When you bring your items, be prepared to sort them into categories including their condition.

• Undergarments (Underwear, Panties, Bras, Boxers)
• Socks
• Gloves
• Accessories (Bags, Jewelry, Belts)
• Towels and Washcloths
• Pet Toys
• Pillows
• Duvets and Heavy Blankets
• Fabric Yardage and Scraps

ALL ITEMS WILL BE INSPECTED BY STITCH AND DESTROY STAFF AND IT IS AT THEIR DISCRETION TO NOT ACCEPT ITEMS FOR SWAP. IF NOT ACCEPTED, ITEMS WILL BE RETURNED TO OWNER

STITCH AND DESTROY is located in Philadelphia at 523 S 4th St. We are an upcycled alternative fashions studio and store- creating clothing from textile waste, selling local recycled wares, and hosting sewing workshops. STITCH AND DESTROY is located right off of South Street on 4th St in Philadelphia. Our address is 523 S 4th St. Philadelphia, PA 19147.

There is limited metered street parking on our block and in this area it can be difficult to find parking. We suggest taking public transportation- Bus 40, 57, 12, 47, 42 and 21 are nearby. The Market-Frankford Line 5th St stop is 7 blocks away. The Broad Street Line Lombard-South stop is 10 blocks away.
