About this Event
A trauma-focused play therapy approach for treating victims of childhood sexual abuse will be presented. Trauma-informed play therapy interventions founded on components of evidence-based treatments per the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) and as contained in the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) protocol will be explored. Clinical examples will be provided.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify core components of trauma treatment as defined by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) and as contained in the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) protocol that can be used to underpin play therapy interventions
- Link specific trauma-informed play therapy interventions to core components of trauma treatment and components of TF-CBT
- Describe 10-15 trauma-informed play therapy interventions for use in individual, family, dyadic, and/or group therapy with victims of childhood sexual abuse

About our presenter: Sueann Kenney-Noziska, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S™ specializes in clinical practice with abused & traumatized children and adolescents. She owns a private practice and is part of her community’s multidisciplinary team. Sueann is internationally recognized for her work and has presented throughout the world including North America, Japan, China, Jamaica, Estonia, and England. She is a contributing author to several publications and has testified as an expert witness at the state and federal level. Sueann established the mental health component of the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) in her community and served as its initial Clinical Director. She frequently presents at major child abuse conferences and has trained thousands of professionals.
