Cling Film is an ensemble of musicians that Max Stadtfeld had long wanted to bring together. Felix Hauptmann is one of the most renowned pianists on the contemporary music scene; his bands “Percussion” and “Serpentine” have recently been receiving a great deal of attention.
Philipp Martin recently released an album with his quintet Hypochondrische Ängste, which radically questions the long-established formula of text + music = song. As a sideman, he has performed with Frank Möbus, Oli Steidle, Christian Weidner, and the band Glotze.
The aim of Cling Film is to blend sounds from 20th-century contemporary classical music with electronic textures. As an example, one might contrast the music of Iannis Xenakis with that of Allan Holdsworth.
