Clean Bay Collective: Algalita Open House

Join Algalita, BYO Long Beach and the Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research for a relaxed and welcoming Clean Bay Collective Open House where you can explore our shared learning center, microplastics lab, and reuse store.
This event is designed as a relaxed, choose your own adventure experience where attendees can explore the space at their own pace. Move between demonstrations, meet our team, and see firsthand where our work takes place. Along the way, you will learn more about Algalita’s work and how Clean Bay Collective was created to educate and connect our community, helping deepen relationships with and understanding of Alamitos Bay and our local waters.
Throughout the event, we’ll have hands on educational demonstrations happening around the space. Stop by the microscopes to take a closer look at microplastics and marine life, explore our Clean Bay Collective water quality testing kits, and learn how community science helps us track the health of the bay.
Whether you are a longtime supporter or visiting for the first time, we invite you to come by, ask questions, and get to know our space and programs!
What to expect:
- Open access to our learning center and lab spaces
- Signup for the Moore Institute's Microplastics Lab Tours (one of the first labs in the US to be accredited to test for microplastics in drinking water!)
- Live educational demonstrations including microscopes and water quality testing
- Explore Long Beach's first reuse store,
- Learn about Clean Bay Collective and ways to get involved
All ages are welcome. Feel free to drop in anytime between 10 AM and 1 PM.
