The album was a massive commercial success, spending eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and becoming the top-selling album of 1987. Certified 15× Platinum in the U.S., it remains Bon Jovi’s best-selling album and helped define the radio-friendly hair metal sound of the late '80s.
