The Chicago Journalists Association will host the 86th Anniversary Awards Ceremony for this stalwart organization, which is dedicated to recognizing journalistic excellence, mentoring the next generation of journalists and providing much-needed professional development in a rapidly evolving media industry.
Highly respected within Chicago’s journalism and civic communities, CJA will celebrate outstanding journalists in the Chicago metropolitan area with its annual Lifetime Achievement Award and Chicago Journalist of the Year Award. CBS News Chicago contributor Jim Williams will receive the 2025 for his decades-long journalism career. Windy City Times managing editor Jake Wittich will be recognized as Chicago Journalist of the Year.
CJA will also recognize the top local, woman-presenting journalist with the Dorothy Storck Award and present the Sarah Brown Boyden Awards, honoring the best of the best journalism work of the past year from news outlets in Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
The event will raise funds for year-round programming that includes training and scholarship programs for college students; mentoring and media workshops; and ongoing professional development and newsmaker forums exploring current industry issues.
