About this Event
City of Asheville Zoning - A Roundtable Discussion
The City of Asheville is planning a major rewriting of its planning ordinances. The current Unified Development Ordinance was adopted in the late 1990's and is not meeting our current needs and new realities Post-Helene. As this process gets started this summer, we are aiming to gather goals, ideas, and suggestions from the professional community. Our June section meeting will be a roundtable discussion with community leaders, elected officials, and professionals. Hosted by Scott Burroughs, AIA of This Land Studio, findings from this section meeting will help inform an AIA Activate sponsored event scheduled for the fall. The event will engage the design profession and the general public to help clarify community and professional goals for that rewrite. Like many issues in our community there is broad consensus about many of the goals that we want: affordability, safety, and sustainable growth, but very little consensus about what accomplishing these goals looks like. Please bring your thoughts questions and concerns to the section meeting and to get more involved, visit: https://www.thislandstudio.com/asheville-zoning-updates and sign up to participate in planning the Fall event
