About this Event
The City Nature Challenge is an annual four-day global bioblitz where cities compete to see not only what can be accomplished when we all work toward a common goal, but also which city can gather the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the event!
Join us on Saturday, April 26th from 10am to 12pm for a Nature Challenge Hike on the Fountain Side of the park so we can get Shirley Chisholm State Park on the map!
We will hike approximately 2 miles, on gravel and paved trails. Please wear comfortable shoes, and remember to bring water and whatever else you need to be comfortable.
No experience necessary. We will hike around the park where we will identify and document as many plants and animals as we can and teach everyone how to use the app iNaturalist.
We STRONGLY recommend bringing a smartphone that either already has the iNaturalist app downloaded, or can have the app downloaded to it. We do not have public Wifi at the park.
Binoculars will be provided! Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for hiking in.
This program is free! Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The address is 950 Fountain Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208. The meeting point will be behind the blue building inside the Fountain parking lot.
A reminder email with more information will be sent out in the days leading up to the event.
