Join us for the first ever @City Nature Challenge in Corvallis! This year, Corvallis will be joining cities around the world in the 2026 City Nature Challenge, a global collaborative effort to document local biodiversity using iNaturalist. Run by the California Academy of Sciences, the City Nature Challenge is a 4 day global bioblitz, an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities around the world. Help us take a snap shot of life on our planet.
All nature observations made on iNaturalist in the Benton County Boundary from Friday, April 24 to Monday, April 27 will count towards our cities total observations.
Venture out to your favorite place, go look for your favorite species, put together a bioblitz team, or join a local event to connect with local scientists and naturalists to learn more about our natural world!
Public Events (stay tuned for more!):
Friday, April 24th @ Finley Wildlife Refuge - 1-4pm - Start your adventure at Headquarters. Binoculars, hand lenses, and Discovery Backpacks are available for use.
Friday, April 24th @Bald Hill Farm - 4-7 pm - Bioblitz at Bald Hill Farm - Absolute beginners and iNaturalist power-users are all invited! If you are new to iNaturalist, we will start with a demonstration of this easy-to-use app, and get you started on making observations. Everyone will get access to parts of Bald Hill Farm that are not open to the public to wander, explore, and discover as many plant and animal species as you can.
Saturday, April 25th @Starker Arts Park - 10am-noon - Meet up with Corvallis Environmental Center educators and help us bioblitz Starker Arts Park.
