About this Event
—
It's hard to be human. On any given day, we’re faced with reminders of the brokenness within and around us.
Is it possible to repair? What does it look like to practice repair with ourselves and others?
Join us at our first-ever Circle of Repair to explore and practice mending:
- Our bodies—through gentle, guided movements
- Our belongings—with simple sewing tools and techniques
- Our beloved communities—by giving from what we've been given
—
How much is it?
Tickets are $25 + GST*. This includes:
- The session
- Access to basic sewing tools for mending
- Light refreshments
We'll also donate $10 from your ticket to Water First, practicing generosity and helping repair our beloved communities.
(Water First is an organization dedicated to working in partnership with Indigenous communities to address local water challenges through education, training and meaningful collaboration. Learn more here: www.waterfirst.ngo)
*Please note: If finances are tight and would prevent you from joining, please just reach out to us.

What can I expect?
The vibe for this 90-minute gathering will be welcoming, homey, and down-to-earth.
After a short intro to help you settle in, Maria will lead you in 40 minutes of restorative movement. You can expect to breathe deeply, stretch gently, and shake things out a little. This time will help repair your nervous system and give you some creative tools to take home.
Next, Charlotte will gather us to learn some simple sewing skills. Then you’ll have time to practice on the materials she’s brought or work on your own project—connecting with others as much or as little as you’d like.
We’ll come to a natural close, sending you home with new mending skills and a sense that you’re not alone on this wild journey of being human.

Who’s hosting?
Charlotte Taverner-Whelpton and Maria Schroeder met over 15 years ago.
They connected over a mutual interest in health and wellness, and their friendship has deepened over the years. They've lived through many personal crises and celebrations, become parents at the same time, and eaten MANY croissants together.
And now, they're hosting this event, which they've been talking about doing for about 15 years.
They aren't experts in repair—they’re students of it. And it's their honour to invite you into this Circle of Repair to learn and grow together.
If you'd like to find out more about what they're contributing to the world, you can explore or follow:
